Emily and the rambling rows afghan

Emily sent us this photograph of her beautiful Rambling Rows Afghan. It's the largest project she's knit and the first that isn't worn.

Emily chose 5 shades of Blue Sky Alpaca's Dyed Cotton - aloe, azul, drift, honeydew, and stone. The Dyed Cotton is a great choice for blankets because it's non-allergenic, it machine washable, and there's a wonderful selection of colors.

For our version of the afghan, we used Blue Sky Alpaca's Organic Cotton in bone, sage, nut, sand, and pebble. The Organic Cotton is undyed and grows in these beautiful neutrals. It's a great choice for a baby gift when you don't know the gender.

The Rambling Rows Afghan pattern gives directions for 3 sizes and guidance for color choices. Both Emily's and our blanket are the smallest size. Each used 15 balls of yarn: 2 of color A, 3 each of colors B, D, and E, and 4 of color C. The blanket is knit in one piece so there's no seaming at the end.

You did a great job, Emily! Thanks for sending us the picture!
