Marianna's sister was in labor and she was running to the train as soon as she found buttons for the sweater she'd knit her first niece.
My poor photo doesn't do justice to the great job Marianna did. And you can't see that she chose cows' head buttons that are just adorable.
The pattern is Trellis from Knitty. Marianna used Blue Sky Alpaca's Dyed Cotton in "pickle" one of the new colors for Spring.
If you don't know Knitty, then go now. It's an absolute treasure trove of knitting patterns, instruction, contemplation, and enjoyment. (It can also be described as a quarterly online knitting magazine, but that's not necessarily as much fun to say.) Knitty was founded by the lovely and dynamic Amy Singer, author of Big Girl Knits and the recently released No Sheep for You, both of which are currently here in the store.
For those of you who really like to plan ahead - keep Sunday, August 26 open. Amy will be here to teach, to sign her books, and for general yarn enjoyment. You won't want to miss it!
