July classes

Our knitting classes are just the thing for long summer days and lazy summer nights. We're running our two-hour just-the-facts-please Learn to Knit class twice this month. This class is great to see if knitting is for you. It's also just the thing if you used to knit but haven't for a while.

For the full introduction to knitting, there's our Beginning Knitting class. In 4 two-hour classes you'll learn all of the basic skills. It's also a nice introduction to the knitting community, since you spend more time with your instructor and classmates.

For those of you who already knit, we have two fun project classes, the Top Down Baby Cardigan class and the February Baby Jacket class.

Baby Cardigan

The Baby Cardigan is knit in worsted weight yarn in one piece from the top down. This means there's only a little finishing to be done once you've completed the knitting. It's a useful method of sweater construction to add to your knitting knowledge. Laura knit this cardigan in Shepherd Worsted yarn because it's machine washable. Blue Sky's Dyed Cotton yarn is another good choice.

February Baby Sweater, another view

The February Baby Sweater is an Elizabeth Zimmerman classic from Knitter's Almanac. It's also knit from the top down but there is a little seaming at the end. The sweater pictured was knit in Hand Spun Organic Cotton yarn. It would also be beautiful in Kersti or Sheep 3 Yarn. This is a good class project because you learn how to make a sweater and get an introduction to lace knitting.

So take some time for yourself and sign-up for a knitting class today!
